Exercise After Pregnancy Period

Getting Back Into Shape In The Period After Pregnancy

The Benefits Of Post Pregnancy Exercise

Every mother is eager to get back to her pre pregnancy weight in the period after pregnancy. Exercise done during this period is very useful in restoring the health of the stomach walls and the pelvic floor and bringing the mother back to her original shape.

Start Slow

It is advisable to start slow so that your body has time to heal and you do not injure yourself in any way. You must keep a proper check on your diet as well to ensure that you reduce. Talk to your health care practitioner before starting on an exercise routine in the period after pregnancy.

You Were Pregnant Not Ill!!

Do remember that you were pregnant and not ill, so there is no need to stay in bed. You should start walking after pregnancy as soon as possible to get the blood circulation in your legs going and to avoid blood clotting. You may have lost weight after your baby was born but your muscles are not necessarily firmer. You should exercise for five minutes at a time at least three to four times a day, doing exercises that your doctor has prescribed. Do not over exert yourself, stop when your body signals that you’ve had enough.

Post Pregnancy Exercises

Getting your body back to normal can take anywhere between 3 months to a year. We know that at this stage you will be considerably relieved that the baby is born. But you may also suffer from postpartum depression. Be positive, do the exercises that your doctor prescribes and start walking. Walking is an excellent form of exercise and so are light dance movements, arm swinging and other arm movements. You may also start jogging and swimming in a few weeks. However, consult your doctor if you have any vaginal bleeding after pregnancy. Deep breathing exercises in the period after pregnancy are also very beneficial. This is because when you deep breathe, the muscles of the abdomen expand and contract, and this helps the stretched muscles in becoming firm.
